You know... - One of the "substitute people"
Can I substitute for Kirsten?

You know...
I should have been in bed 2 hours ago. I'm exhausted and feel like warmed over crap. I've spent the past 3 days driving 160 miles per day to be there for my dad. I was all ready to go to bed when I saw the news about Orlando's wreck.

Needless to say my heart nearly stopped.

Then I investigated a little deeper and can't say I'm surprised that this accident was caused by him being chased by paparazzi. *sigh* Do they never give up??? he's not the first celebrity that's been put in this place by them and pretty soon, they're going to have to pass laws and enforce them before someone winds up dead.

Now I know everyone has opinions on whether or not he had been drinking or tried to walk away or whatever. But after being in a couple of wrecks myself, I can tell you, you don't think straight in the first few minutes after it happens, so cut him some slack. I'm also betting the people with him told him to make himself scarce to avoid the press. Poor guy is told what to do now 24/7 and is probably just used to being told everything from when to eat and when it's safe to go to the loo. I'm not saying he can't think for himself, but lets face it--he was rattled. I would have been.

The police said no drugs and no alcohol and I say we leave it at that.

At this point, I'm begging everyone to just think the best and cut the guy some slack.

And if you don't agree, please, please don't contradict me here. I've got enough on my mind without feeling like I have to defend someone I shouldn't have to. If that makes any sense. Orlando is a good guy. And I dare anyone to prove otherwise.

Yeah, I'm sticking up for my man and now I'm going to bed.

It actually never occurred to me to judge him - just because you're famous and have an accident at night doesn't automatically mean you're drugged and drunken.

I'd just actually seen a lot of comments about it, mostly negative, and it got to me.

I feel sorry for him. On many levels. And the media is just getting out of hand.

*hugs*

I agree with you 100 %, so no contradictions coming from here. *hugs*

The part that I don't understand is that some people, who have claimed to be fans of his, appear to be happy and ecstatic that this happened to him. Schadenfreude at its worst. :/
araestel From: araestel Date: October 13th, 2007 12:04 pm (UTC) (Link)
*shakes head* I know. And I don't get it. I know there are some who just love to celebrities fall, but he didn't fall! He was cut off and then wrecked. No drugs, no alcohol. So they're desperate for something bad, some dirt on him and BAM! here we are. And it's shit.

*hugs*

I'm with you. So far all official reports point to him not playing foul here, so I'm on his side. Even if he does end up with part of the blame, that still doesn't negate the disgusting behaviour by the paps towards it all. There should be a ruling to draw boundaries for those bastards. What they did here went too far.
araestel From: araestel Date: October 13th, 2007 12:07 pm (UTC) (Link)
AMEN!!! Well said!!

Someday, those paps will end up getting someone killed. And sadly, I don't think anything will change until that happens. GRRRRRRR

Thanks for chiming in and your Orlando Support. *hugs*

Orlando is a good guy. And I dare anyone to prove otherwise.

Damn right.

*squishes*

It just pisses me off to see people I *thought* supported him, pointing fingers. Wonder if they'd point those fingers if he'd been seriously hurt???

And he stayed with those girls all night in the hospital and I heard they were released. Sounds like a good guy and a good friend to me.
slori From: slori Date: October 13th, 2007 06:44 am (UTC) (Link)
Totally agree with you.
As for him supposedly going away ? I never believe what the paps are saying in videos, especially since that time Orlando got into a car, pat a paparazzi's arm, and the guy suddenly yelled OMG YOU HIT ME !
Idiots

*HUGS*
araestel From: araestel Date: October 13th, 2007 12:17 pm (UTC) (Link)
I agree! And the poor guy was shaken. Stalked and wrecked. I'd be a tad dazed myself!

I heard he stayed all night at the hospital with the girls and that they were released. Sounds like a good guy to me.

I've just posted much the same on my lj. Orlando was shocked, upset and confused; he has done nothing wrong and he is in the clear, as far as I am concerned. Please, everybody...do not believe the rumours. Please?

Thank God he is okay. He could have been killed, he could have damaged his back, it all could have been so tragic.

Fucking vultures....and I don't just mean the bloody bloodsucking paps but the sites and newspapers that will blow this all up out of proportion.
veronica_rich From: veronica_rich Date: October 13th, 2007 09:16 am (UTC) (Link)
Well, if it makes you feel better, the legitimate news agencies (Reuters, AP, Times) have reported on the incident and that he wasn't DUI, so it's unlikely they'll report again unless there's a new legal development (such as if there is another driver who caused it and they're found, and anything that may happen after that) - and those are the only sources I believe, anyway. Of course, this doesn't preclude the gossip columns, but I suspect this'll go away after a week or two so long as Orlando does nothing to "feed" it. I'm sure somebody else like Britney or Lindsey will do something stupid to grab attention away from him again in fairly short order.
edanna From: edanna Date: October 13th, 2007 07:16 am (UTC) (Link)
I also think he was in shock after the crash. He walked away without thinking, automatically, just to escape and to clear his head. That was my first thought after watching the video. How can anybody blame him for that? I'm so upset, I don't even want to read any more articles and discussions about the accident.
He's a good guy, you are absolutely right. To tell more, he has no negative characteristics (is he actually from this world then?), and it annoys some people, they just can't bear it.

araestel From: araestel Date: October 13th, 2007 12:23 pm (UTC) (Link)
I think some people are just desperate for dirt on him. And since he's a good guy and doesn't give them any, they'll do anything for a story.

I'm not going anywhere off lj to see anything about it. I don't need it. But seeing some of the comments I've seen... I'm very disappointed. :(

OH my god... this Paparazzi make me sick... I really can't believe they don'T stop this... That's just not fair...

I'm just afraid someone is going to end up dead before things change. And it should never come to that.

*hugs*

Aww sweetie. No worries. At least your Orli-bear was able to walk away from the accident :)

Thankfully! *breathes HUGE sigh of relief* But two innocent girls got hurt. Laws need to be passed against these paps before someone gets killed.

*hugs*

I agree with you. The paparazzi are trying to make money off this. The actual story isn't very exciting. As defamer said:

Congratulations, Orlando Bloom! After last night's activities, you are now a member in good standing of the Celebrity Car Crash Club (The Quadruple C), where you will join such luminaries as Britney Spears, Halle Berry, Billy Joel, Lindsay Lohan, Rebecca Gayheart, Tara Reid, Brandy, and James Dean. In comparison with names like that, however, Legolas's crash seems kind of tame. Here's what happened: After leaving some lame Hollywood hotspot, Orlando got into his buddy's '03 Toyota Matrix. Shortly thereafter, he was cut off by another driver and slammed into a parked car. Police say that drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the accident. So, basically it was just that--an accident. Snooze! Of course, two additional passengers were injured (not fatally) in the wreck, but they're not celebrities, so we're not writing about them. That is all.

Boring. But boring won't get those pictures sold. So...

As for him walking away, I thought he wanted to get help and was a little dazed and thought he could walk and find some. He parked the car after the accident. Yeah, he really was trying to flee. Whatever.

I'm sticking up for him too. There are only a few facts and those support that he didn't do anything wrong. The rest is sources and bullshit.
araestel From: araestel Date: October 13th, 2007 12:32 pm (UTC) (Link)
I agree 100%!!

Then I hear he stayed with those injured girls all night in the hospital. Sounds like a good guy to me.......

I think some places are just desperate for dirt on him and will take anything they can get. Making crap up isn't beneath them either.

But what shocked me is reading that so many "fans" were quick to point the finger and be mean. I just never thought that would happen.

*hugs*

well, I just hope he's ok - this it he first I've heard about this...
araestel From: araestel Date: October 13th, 2007 12:33 pm (UTC) (Link)
Sorry to break the news in such a way. *hugs*

Thankfully, he's fine. But two girls were hurt because some fool with a camera caused the wreck. *sigh*

I feel so bad for everyone involved.
the_tim_world From: the_tim_world Date: October 13th, 2007 10:24 am (UTC) (Link)
Ok, when i first saw the report, I asked myself "How drunk was he?" Because TMZ shows him getting into an almost fight with some guy. Then more reports start to come in and here's my take:

The paparazzi started to follow, and then Orlando gets cut off. That must have scared the shit out him. He turns, and hits a parked car. The only reason I can see him walking away (and just like what everyone said) -- he was in shock, and mostly likely dazed. He did go back, and take care of his friends.

I'm so happy it wasn't a DUI.
araestel From: araestel Date: October 13th, 2007 12:38 pm (UTC) (Link)
I'm very happy there weren't any alcohol or drugs involved which just backs up my opinion of him--that he's a good guy.

I personally think the was dazed and they told him to leave to avoid crap. Gut reaction. He was shaken and confused. Plus, we have too remember he's in another country, not where he's grown up. He's been on movies shoots since PJ discovered him. How much time has he had where people haven't told him what to do? He's used to following direction. And I think he was just out of it and listened to his friends.
grey853 From: grey853 Date: October 13th, 2007 11:16 am (UTC) (Link)
Man, they need to do something about this paparazzi business. It's just like a bunch of vultures.

I'm glad he wasn't hurt and his friends are okay.
araestel From: araestel Date: October 13th, 2007 12:40 pm (UTC) (Link)
Laws need to be passed against the paps. Someone is going to end up dead. *sigh* One of the girls had a neck injury. If that had happened to Orlando after his back injury...
ambayuun From: ambayuun Date: October 13th, 2007 12:17 pm (UTC) (Link)
The thing is, there was NO evidence that Orlando walked away RIGHT after the accident... He didnt hit the car and started walking away... I'm sure he checked up on everyone first and called for help, and probably felt "being chased", and not thinking rationally, he walked away...

This is a maybe of course.

But I'd like to think that's what happened. If people like to think he was high or something, then so be it... LOL! Because, we'll never know.
araestel From: araestel Date: October 13th, 2007 12:42 pm (UTC) (Link)
I know. He was shaken, it was evident. It just seems some people are desperate for dirt on the poor guy. :(
belil_gaviel From: belil_gaviel Date: October 13th, 2007 01:43 pm (UTC) (Link)
I'm with you. Not every celebrity that has an accident or something bad happen to them is due to drugs or alcohol or they are just bad trouble makers. It's the fault of the media that make things out of nothing. I just wish some of these people would leave them alone sometimes. It's one thing to get pictures of them when they are at premieres and stuff, but do we really need to have pictures and news of every time they go to the bathroom or whatever.

And I hope your dad is doing better.
araestel From: araestel Date: October 13th, 2007 10:18 pm (UTC) (Link)
I agree. For the paps, there are no lines and anything is a target.

Dad's getting better in one way, worse in another. So I really don't know when he'll get home now. *hugs*
