Can I substitute for Kirsten?
You know...
I should have been in bed 2 hours ago. I'm exhausted and feel like warmed over crap. I've spent the past 3 days driving 160 miles per day to be there for my dad. I was all ready to go to bed when I saw the news about Orlando's wreck.

Needless to say my heart nearly stopped.

Then I investigated a little deeper and can't say I'm surprised that this accident was caused by him being chased by paparazzi. *sigh* Do they never give up??? he's not the first celebrity that's been put in this place by them and pretty soon, they're going to have to pass laws and enforce them before someone winds up dead.

Now I know everyone has opinions on whether or not he had been drinking or tried to walk away or whatever. But after being in a couple of wrecks myself, I can tell you, you don't think straight in the first few minutes after it happens, so cut him some slack. I'm also betting the people with him told him to make himself scarce to avoid the press. Poor guy is told what to do now 24/7 and is probably just used to being told everything from when to eat and when it's safe to go to the loo. I'm not saying he can't think for himself, but lets face it--he was rattled. I would have been.

The police said no drugs and no alcohol and I say we leave it at that.

At this point, I'm begging everyone to just think the best and cut the guy some slack.

And if you don't agree, please, please don't contradict me here. I've got enough on my mind without feeling like I have to defend someone I shouldn't have to. If that makes any sense. Orlando is a good guy. And I dare anyone to prove otherwise.

Yeah, I'm sticking up for my man and now I'm going to bed.

I'd thought after the accident with Lady Di, that the papparazzi would realize how dangerous car chases can be and how easy then can go totally wrong, but apparently not. They probably focussed on how the driver of that car was speeding and alcoholized, and thought it would take all the blame off them. It's not that easy imo; that car probably never would have speeded like that in the first if they hadn't been chased. The papparazzi chasing were at least partly a reason for that accident to happen. But I'm sadly also sure that it has to happen at least one more time with someone ending up dead before countries put in much needed laws.
I'm not sure if such a thing could happen over here on the other hand. We have laws against endangerment of the traffic, and car chases too. Just the other week, I think, there was a woman killed in Hamburg by such a speeder (which had nothing to do at all with paps, it was just some men getting their kicks out of speeding on street in the middle of the city). Seriously though, there need to be harder punishments against papparazzi, when their *jobs* lead them to endangering everyone.

On the rest, I'm with you. The police said no drugs, no alcohol, so I believe them. They have no reason to say not the truth. I haven't watched the videos, but being dazed and confused when in shock after a car accident is nothing untypical at all. Trying to twist that into something bad is just ugly, and it makes me wish there was a way to induce some brain into people. They seem to lack it :/

Also, just talked over it with my boyfriend, who's been a volunteer firefighter, and who has seen a lot of car crashes during his time. He said that he's never seen someone who's been in a crash who was not in shock (mind that the fire brigade only gets to see the crashes were they're needed), and that most people behave absolutely irregular after it. Walking around the street before even thinking of calling help even isn't atypical; it happens pretty often as he told me. A psychatrist or other doctor with knowledge in the way the brain works would probably be able to explain why a shock does that, but the thing is just, it's normal and it's not that people mean to react like that.

I believe it! I've been in accidents and the adrenaline pumps, you're in shock and dazed. I'm not at all surprised he wandered.

I agree 100%. Things need to change here. And if I were Orlando, I might start putting my foot down.

I think he's a good guy and the media is just desperate for dirt on him and since they can't find any, they'll make it up. Wankers.

I think it's just because they want dirt--sensationalism. And they'll do whatever they can to get it.

I'm in agreement with you 100 percent. I find it sickening that this kind of thing keeps happening. One of these days someone is really going to get hurt if not killed.

I'm so thankful that he wasn't hurt and I'm keeping fingers crossed for his friends who were with him and did have minor injuries. My thoughts are with them.

Araestel - You take care of you too. **hugs**

*hugs* I'm very thankful he's safe. But I feel bad for those girls and for how bad he must feel. The paps need to be stopped.

I'm in total agreement too! Hope it's ok to comment here araestel. I'm so sick of paps, they make my skin crawl and they edit all thier videos to make it look like the victim is the guilty, just like they have done here.

They claim they are just 'doing their job', yeah, nice job you arseholes!

You took one wonderful English treasure away from us, and you almost did it again......what is it going to take for you to back the hell off?

Of course you can comment! *hugs*

And I agree! When we lost her, we lost a great person long before we should have. The paps were to blame and you can't convince me otherwise. I'm very thankful it wasn't serious for Orlando or any of his friends. I feel bad for all of them. And the paps need to be stopped. Yes, they can photograph at premiers, shopping, etc. But the law should outlaw them being able to follow or be involved in any sort of traffic situation before some celeb gets killed.

Feel free to come by any time.

It was a total shock for me to, but is good to know he's ok, as far as I know someone crashed with him... at least that's what I read yesterday, I didn't knew about the reporters....

Anyway, yeah there was nothing about wine or anything so that's great :). Take care ok?? You need to take a break you are doing to much!!! Hugs, hugs, hugs!! Be well and take care.

I wish I *could* take a break.

And I'm so very thankful he was safe.

I'm awful late but I just want to say that I completely agree with you. A lot of people are making something out of nothing and since I wasn't there to see every little thing that happened, I'm not about to judge his behavior. The point is even if he was walking away from the car he did go back and do the right thing. He talked to the police, his friends got checked out and he was there for them.

I can't stand the amount of people saying how horrible he is. You'd think he purposely hit an oncoming car and killed someone with what people are saying. It's really aggravating too. I mean I don't think he's a perfect angel or anything, but I think he's human. We all make mistakes and to jump on him for this one thing he may or may not have done wrong is so aggravating. Especially when it comes from people who you'd think would know better.

I just keep coming back to the fact I think he was just shaken up and was just kinda out of it. Plus, I really do think his friends probably told him to just go to avoid any more paps. And with him not thinking straight and shaken up, he just took the advice.

No, he's not perfect. No one is. But I don't think he deserves all this negativity he's received from so-called fans.

He stayed all night at the hospital with those girls. If he didn't care, he would have left.

I'm very angry at a good portion of his "fans" right now and would like to tell them where to jump off.
