The Scary Place
I thought some of you might wonder where I was a couple of weeks ago and finally have so time to post about it.

wav, un4scene and thefieldmouse all went to WAVERLY HILLS SANATORIUM, one of the most haunted places in the world and it's right here in my city.

I urge you to click on "Waverly Hills" above and check out the Wiki listing on it and also the official site, THE REAL WAVERLY HILLS SANATORIUM

The Waverly Hills Sanitarium in Louisville Kentucky has it all--cold spots, disembodied voices, and ghosts of former patients both adult and children, roaming the halls. It sits on a great hill overlooking the city and seems like a reigning fortress of gloom in its eerie, decaying state. The atmosphere is further darkened by a chilling history of mass death, patient abuse during the years it was used as a geriatric hospital, and a local murder of a homeless man and his companion dog.

The estimated death toll at Waverly Hills is about 63,000...Collapse )

So freaking cool. I'm the type of person who gets freaked out just looking at pictures like these (and have learned NEVER to watch or listen to the recordings ::shudders::) so I too applaud your bravery.

Creepy! 0.o I don't believe in haunted things, but I would have been thoroughly spooked anyway.

oh that's very cool! I saw a documentary about the place a while ago and I've been wanting to see the movie based on it as well. If I was anywhere close to the place, I would totally go visit it!

That is VERY cool!!

Okay, I'm gonna share a pic (I think I've posted it before, but I think you'll appreciate it after this). My cousin took this pic in front of a graveyard in St. Augustine. As you may know, St. Augustine is the oldest permanent European settlement in the US. It was established in 1565 and has been in use since then. It's a gorgeous place and I recommend anyone to visit. But with all that time, comes ghost stories. And there are TONS in St. Augustine. This pic isn't related to any of those, though. This was just one of the cemeteries that is now in the center of St. Augustine (but is a few blocks over from the Castilo de San Marcos, so it would've been the perfect place for a cemetery way back when.

You can easily see the orbs in front of the pole, but if you look inside the cemetery, just over the stone fence, you can see a face. It's kinda hard to see it in the small pic, so I enlarged it here. No one is allowed inside there (as they cemeteries in the area are a few hundred years old). And the face is kinda odd, not really human..or live human. Anyway, figured you'd get a kick outta this after your trip!

Ooooh, I like your fully comprehensive tour post so much better than my 'here are the pictures' lazy post. lol

You made me remember a whole bunch of cool stuff I'd previously forgotten!

Can I just say I am completely freaked out. I hate going to made up haunted houses, I can't see that I would ever go to this place on Halloween or any other time. I think I would have freaked out if I had been there. You are a braver person than I.

DUDE! I love stuff like this! Hubby and I tried to get into a Ghost Hunters Event at Rolling Hills Sanitorium in East Bethany, NY last year, but it sold out :( Shame you guys didn't see anything, but you'd probably have better luck if you did an over nighter.

WOW!

You were really brave. I would want to go there but I would be to afraid.
I believe that souls can get trapped or don't want to move on.
There was a film with David Caruso called Session 9 that takes place in an old mental hospital. It's really good and spooky. You should check it out.
*kisses you for being so brave*

I don't believe in ghosts (I know, I know!) but some places still creep me out... On the other hand, the building is beautiful and it will be nice to see it restored :)

Congrats on you braving it! *hugs*

P.s. I wrote you and email, please please answer - if nothing else, tell me to sod off ;)

Wow that sounds really cool. I don't know if I definitely believe the whole ghost/spirit thing but it's sometimes interesting to hear out the stories and see if it's possible.

It's obvious you took a lot of effort on this post and I absolutely love it. Old buildings like that with all sorts of creepy history are so fascinating. One of these days I have to visit one. :P

I kept looking over my shoulder well reading this. I hate you. :P Ugh, I scare to easy, and would love to go there.

I've never gotten into this type of thing, like enough to go visit one or anything, but I've always enjoyed reading the stories and weird stuff, when someone points me towards it.

This post was so cool, with the pics, links and background and stuff.

*hugs*

That is so cool!! I have a few pictures with "orbs" in them. I am a bit suspicious. I think it's just light particals bouncing off of glass objects.

The shadowy picture, I can see a skull or a hunched over person. That one creeped me out.

Also, when you wrote "shadow people" I felt a chill go down my spine. One night, in my room, I saw 3 shadow people in my room. I was totally freaked out and have never left my window unlocked or seen them again...

That is so cool!! I want to go!! Too bad I live in S.Florida...
