I just received the most obnoxious phone call... - One of the "substitute people"
Can I substitute for Kirsten?

I just received the most obnoxious phone call...
...from the Republican Party asking me for support to the tune of $200 to "assure their majority in Washington". I politely told the man who called that I'd been unemployed for a number of years and just didn't have any money to spend, not wanting to get into anything more. Then he proceeds to ask me if I "want Hillary Clinton to win the bid from the Democratic Party to run for President." I told him that I wouldn't vote for her (enter expletive here) and added "not even if money were involved". He says "well, mam, we're (republicans) dealing with a lot of negatitvity in Washington right now, and it was up to us to show support and retain our 'edge' in the house and senate." I told him I wasn't in support of the Republican Party because they were "shoving religion down the countries throat every chance they got." And "whatever happened to the separation of church and state"? Then, THEN he proceeds to PREACH to me. He asked me if I supported the Republican Party and brought up RELIGION. Well, he got an earful. THEN he proceeded to "witness" to me, saying "how wrong gay marriage is" and proceeded to spout scripture! Well, being raised in the church I quoted back and also told him the origin of his "word" that it was written by men--sexist men who only painted women as "fallen" or "troublemakers". And I added "let he who is without sin, cast the first stone. I told him that under the laws our forefathers sat down that we have the right to "life liberty and the pursuit of happiness." He proceeds to tell me that we're supposed to got out and reproduce. REPRODUCE! I told him I was married for 10 years and I didn't ever want or intend to re-produce so evidentally I was already against his scriptures. He then tells me that the forefathers "didn't intend for that to incorporate gay marriage when they wrote that." Uh huh. I told him it didn't matter what the actual intentions were--that their wording covered it. The "pursuit of happiness" and that people should be able to marry whomever they love, regardless of sex. And besides, do we really need to re-produce? Look at Africa! And now, look at New Orleans--what do we do with all those millions of displaced people? He then had the audacity to ask me if I believed in God. Well... he got a big old earfull from that nosey-ass question. Then he quoted Revelations saying that "homosexuals will be cast into the lake of fire to suffer for all eternity," trying to *PREACH* to me and sway me.

Uh huh--you guessed it. I lost it. His rude-ass got a big old frelling earfull! So much so that he gave up and hung up.

GO ME!

I find it more than disturbing that the Republican party is condoning their people calling and getting into a political/religious debates with people. Whatever happened to accepting an answer and eding the call? Maybe the Democratic party does the same. I don't know. But I haven't been called by them. Or the Liberitarians. Or the Independents. Or any of the other parties.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

What a fucking pig, but at least he showed his true colors. Unfortunately, too many assholed like him believe all that shit, and that's what's so fucking scary. Politics. Ew.

I know. And I have half a mind to report his ass for it

You should report his ass. Probably wouldn't do any good, but I don't think that's part of the script they're supposed to use to solicit donations.

I know this must be annoying, but just imagining you argueing him to death is entertaining! *hugs*

It pays to be educated, because for everything he said, I had a counter point. Heh heh

What the hell? Who is this guy? What's this bringing up the people of New Orleans? It's not their fault a hurricane turned their lives upside down. What are we supposed to ignore them or any other human beings who need help? People like that caller are really pathetic. Damn! Good for you for giving him an earful. *Bravo*

Take Care!

Actually, I brought them up because he said it was in the bible that in order to form a mirrage it had to be between a man and a woman because it was our duty to re-produce. I told him I was married for 10 years and had absolutely no intention of ever re-producing so why should my marriage be recognized. So what was the difference between my marriage and a gay marriage. And populate??? I told him to look at Africa--we had plenty to populate the earth and what about New Orleans--that we had millions that were once there that had no home. Do we really need more of a population???

He irritated the piss out of me.

Oh, how weird is that?
Really annoying. I usually hang up when someone from a party or whatever calls. I just can`t stand that

I tried to be nice to this guy and just tell him no. He didn;t want to take no for an answer and just wanted to preach. I'm still thinking about preforting him. What he did was rude and uncalled for.
tinkerfairy From: tinkerfairy Date: September 14th, 2005 09:07 pm (UTC) (Link)
Well, maybe you should do that. Being in a party doesn't allow them to act like that although they might thing they are allowed to

GOOD FOR YOU!
I've not been called by anyone, though I am registered as a democrat, simply because you HAVE to choose one or the other and I tend to vote Dem. I'd prefer to choose Indep. but they don't give you that option. How's THAT for discrimination?
I'm proud of you for going of on that idiot.

Be thankful. I'd rather not be party affiliated at all at this point.

Good on you!

He then tells me that the forefathers "didn't intend for that to incorporate gay marriage when they wrote that."

Yeah, and they didn't intend for women to vote, either, or for African-Americans to be, y'know, Americans.

Scary people out there sometimes.

The genius of our country's earliest documents is that they have the resiliency to live and to breathe and to change. That as we grow as a people, their meaning expands to encompass more rights and more tolerance.

*hugs back*
