...from the Republican Party asking me for support to the tune of $200 to "assure their majority in Washington". I politely told the man who called that I'd been unemployed for a number of years and just didn't have any money to spend, not wanting to get into anything more. Then he proceeds to ask me if I "want Hillary Clinton to win the bid from the Democratic Party to run for President." I told him that I wouldn't vote for her (enter expletive here) and added "not even if money were involved". He says "well, mam, we're (republicans) dealing with a lot of negatitvity in Washington right now, and it was up to us to show support and retain our 'edge' in the house and senate." I told him I wasn't in support of the Republican Party because they were "shoving religion down the countries throat every chance they got." And "whatever happened to the separation of church and state"? Then, THEN he proceeds to PREACH to me. He asked me if I supported the Republican Party and brought up RELIGION. Well, he got an earful. THEN he proceeded to "witness" to me, saying "how wrong gay marriage is" and proceeded to spout scripture! Well, being raised in the church I quoted back and also told him the origin of his "word" that it was written by men--sexist men who only painted women as "fallen" or "troublemakers". And I added "let he who is without sin, cast the first stone. I told him that under the laws our forefathers sat down that we have the right to "life liberty and the pursuit of happiness." He proceeds to tell me that we're supposed to got out and reproduce. REPRODUCE! I told him I was married for 10 years and I didn't ever want or intend to re-produce so evidentally I was already against his scriptures. He then tells me that the forefathers "didn't intend for that to incorporate gay marriage when they wrote that." Uh huh. I told him it didn't matter what the actual intentions were--that their wording covered it. The "pursuit of happiness" and that people should be able to marry whomever they love, regardless of sex. And besides, do we really need to re-produce? Look at Africa! And now, look at New Orleans--what do we do with all those millions of displaced people? He then had the audacity to ask me if I believed in God. Well... he got a big old earfull from that nosey-ass question. Then he quoted Revelations saying that "homosexuals will be cast into the lake of fire to suffer for all eternity," trying to *PREACH* to me and sway me.
Uh huh--you guessed it. I lost it. His rude-ass got a big old frelling earfull! So much so that he gave up and hung up.
I find it more than disturbing that the Republican party is condoning their people calling and getting into a political/religious debates with people. Whatever happened to accepting an answer and eding the call? Maybe the Democratic party does the same. I don't know. But I haven't been called by them. Or the Liberitarians. Or the Independents. Or any of the other parties.
