Questioning my sanity - One of the "substitute people" — LiveJournal
Can I substitute for Kirsten?
Questioning my sanity
I cannot believe I just sat through 'lumps humps and bumps' for Orlando on TRL. Thank God for Greenday or I would have run away screaming! I've been a fan of music from the moment I took my first breath. I love all kinds of music and am the one people run to for music answers. But the majority of the hip hop/rap crap makes me want to hurl. The videos are even worse than the music--seems you can't make one now without some chick in skimpy shorts shaking her ass in the camera. It's really rather disgusting. Whatever happened to "less is more"? What I see definitely falls under the label of TMI. I've enjoyed Green Day, The Killers and various other pop/rock bands. But stuff like that Kanye West with Jamie Foxx "Golddigger" stuff is nothing but a beat drum. That's not music. At least not to me. And yes, before anyone asks if I've tried it--yes, I have. And I pass.

I have to wonder if it's because of my age. Then I reluctantly admit I like some pop music (*groan* Kelly Clarkson has had some recent ones I grudgingly admit I like), though I prefer rock (hard rock like Korn, Manson, etc.) any old day. But what's offered up as music now makes my stomach turn. All I can say is thank god for people like Rob Thomas--a man who can write, perform and actually carry a tune. Just please--no hip hop/ rap crap shit for me. I'll pass. Repeatedly.

Though I must check out A Simple Plan's "Crazy"....

On an up note--today's show was great for Orli hair porn. Always a good thing. ;) He looks rested, at least today.

I'll post some icon goodies later tonight since I've finally caught up some and can breathe again.

Home is good. So sorry you didn't get to meet him. Look at it as something to look forward to. If you want to bad enough, you'll find a way. :)

And I really do like Green Day. And it seems they can actually sing live. Gotta love that. ;)

Well... er... I listen to some (Eminem, Tupac etc.) but I also listen to Rob and Green Day. And Johnny Cash and - dang, I sound like Kid Rock. ;)

Hey--I liked Run DMC and 2 Live Crew years ago. But other than Nelly and Missy Elliot, and *maybe two Mary J Blige songs, I truly pass on the whole wave. Top 40 radio just SUCKS and I'd rather listen to 40 year old songs than the dreck they offer up on our top 40 station.

*runs and hides* i like that goldigger song.. but i dont watch the videos.. rofl.. kinda sick to me... i like a little bit of everything though.. but mtv has to much other crapt.. and that humps song is the stupidest piece of junk offered up as music i have ever heard.. thats not art that something you came up with while smoking a fatty.. :)
anyways i look forward to the icons.. :D

I'm old enough to remember when mtv actually showed FULL videos. All the time. Hell, even VH1 is jsut as bad about not showing them. It's not about the music anymore--it's about booty and bling and rump shakin'. I'd rather read a good slash story. LOL

Oy, I sound old... And I hate that. But hey--what other 43 year-olds you know like Marilyn Manson, Korn and Green Day? LOL So it's not like I'm outta touch... I just have certain criteria for music and top 40 for the most part, isn't it.

The hairporn on Letterman tonight was mega-droolworthy.... and he was so frickin' adorable... I had to cover my mouth to keep from waking up the house with laughter!

Thank God I'm not alone! *hugs you* I'm not a huge fan of Green Day's, but the only song I actually liked was Mariah Carey's. Why can't good bands be on TRL.... music I actually hear on the radio, like Maroon 5, Breaking Benjamin, Shinedown, ... even Backstreet Boys.

I can't believe we are that far away from what's "popular", so I blame TRL for not showing actual good music. :)

Heck, what they do show, they only show a little of. It's annoying. Like suddenly the "youth" can't concentrate for 3 minutes. They act like everyone has ADD. Sheesh!
