External HD update
Even after a new power cord, It's still flashing red and won't come on. All I can hope is that the power supply isn't working correctly and the HD is still intact. Cross you fingers for me. I think I'm gonna be sick.

If the power cord is what started the problems logically the HD should still be okay...

*crosses fingers*

I hope so. I purchased a new casing and haven't taken it back, so if it's the power connection, putting it into a new box *crosses fingers and toes* may help. God, I hope so. I can't even imagine all the stuff... And I take excellent care of everything and yet, it seems never enough.

Hey, that could work, couldn't it? I mean they sell those things with the cases seperate and all? So if the case and power cord broke that could mean the stuff is okay?

I've been looking into buying one...so I've been surfing around to look at a bunch of them. They're so big! 40gb was the smallest I saw. my computer only has 20gb. lol.

I'm hoping that's the case. I NEED that HD!

Everyone I know has a Western Digital. I picked up the 320 gig drive today. A tad expensive, but I think it'll suit me in the long run. Up until this power supply issue, I've been completely satisfied.

My husband/guru says he doesn't have enough info to know for sure what's happening, but suggests that you try taking the HD out of its case and installing it in your machine to see if the data is retrieveable as a first line of troubleshooting...

I am totally clueless on how to do that, but I got some techs nearby that like me and I'llt ake it to them tomorrow. So cross your fingers. I know I am!

*hugs*

Trust me, me too. I won't even begin to tell you all the irreplacable stuff on it

I am starting to get nauseous myself. I can't even restart or shutdown my friggin home desktop without getting the blue screen of death. I am hoping it holds out for a few more months. I get the feeling I will be spending money I don't have on a jump drive and some CDs to back up the stuff I really need in the next week or so....

When you talk to those guys first thing in the morning - don't take any bullshit! Be politely pissed-off/worried - I am sure you know the dril. I am sure they can resolve this and recover your data.

If your HD is still under warrantee you may want to ask them if it's possible to copy your data to a new HD. I had to have that done to my work laptop (my HD crashed my old one about 3 weeks ago). I had to get a completely new model. All my data copied over just fine - I didn't lose anything.

*Sending MAJOR good vibes*

Thanks honey! I need those vibes in the worst way. If I can recover, roommie says she'll bak up my data on dvd's. I wish I had a dvd burner. Here's only came back from the shop 3 weeks ago and untilnow, it's not been feasible for copying. *sigh*

I am *so* crossing fingers and toes.

I hope your stuff holds out too! *hugs*
