One of the "substitute people"
Can I substitute for Kirsten?
After a fairly late night, I still managed to wake up before the alarm and get to the dreaded Best Buy to be there when they opened.

I checked about a month ago and one of their employes mentioned they might be giving away a lithograph with the purchase. Nope. Not a poster, not a display to be seen in the store--nada. Then I get the dvd and not even an insert!! maubast and I were talking aobut this last night and this is the first time I've ever *not* gotten an insert and she says she never gets them anymore. And studios wonder why people just download and not buy. *snort* Not like there's any great incentive... And I *like* liner notes, etc. That's the thing that's kept me buying stuff. Whatever the reason, the studio sure isn't putting any money into this release and I'm beyond annoyed.

I picked up the soundtrack too and here's a scan of the insert. Click for a bigger version.

That pic on the left in b & w of Orli is to DIE for!

The lack of inserts the last years is really annoying... I want something printed, dammit!

I'm in England and it's the same over here, no display cabinets, no posters, nothing! Just a few discs lined up on the shelf! *Rant Rant* Only one store (Woolworths)in my small town had the DVD's. Another, which is a national store hadn't even heard of it (you can read my LJ to witness my convo with the assistant).

There was no insert here either, and yes, that annoyed me as well. I was, at the very least expecting a single sheet of paper with a scene selection list on it. And I was truely disappointed with the 'Bonus Material'.

Maybe the DVD distributers should take more notice of the fans and less of the reviewers.

COnsidering *we* are the ones supporting the film and how much it makes, you'd think they'd at least give us *something*. Geez, I've seen it 18 times at the theatre and it's still here at the second run.

Thankfully, we got a nice poster at my BB...which of course has my name on the back now *grins*

I haven't gotten the DVD yet...didn't work today and have shit to do before I can get out there.

It sucks that they didn't even put an insert or give any extras or anything! And there's no BB exclusive extras cause of that DVD they had when the movie came out at theaters. *sigh* Oh well...I'll just be happy with the movie!

BB screwed me. Again. I was in the lot 20 minutes before they opened and was the first one to grab the movie and I specifically asked one of the media people if there was anything special with any of the dvd's. They said no. And I looked myself.

Then I take it checkout and have the lady there check the computer *and* the ad and was told, "just $3 off".

Well at 4:15, sis tells me there's a "bonus disc". WHAT???!?!? So I call the BB I was at early this morning--"i'll be sure to set one back for you. My name is Brandon." So I drive over, forget my dvd is actually still in the pc--resign myself to buying another and then--THEN--they didn't have one in widescreen like I asked for. The I have to get them to contact the other store on the other side of town--they have--I drive over during rush hour to get and when I check out, the lady asks me "Did you find everything you wanted?"

"Yeah... the trips and since 9:450 this morning..."

Again... I fucking HATE BB!

No DVD liner apperars to be an ongoing trend. As you know, I am was and am still annoyed about not getting a liner in my Corpse Bride DVD. The studios will stoop at new lows to make a profit. Whatever happned to customer staisfaction?

I reneted the Etown DVD on my lunch hour. I can't wait to finally see the movie. Thanks so much for posting all the pics. I have really appreciated them!

Hoe things are better for you! *hugs*

this is the first time I've ever *not* gotten an insert and she says she never gets them anymore

For me personally, I don't care if there's an insert with a DVD. I never look at them.

Re: P.S.

I always do. It's par tof the reason I love them in my hands--like the liner notes in a cd. I love reading all that stuff and I feel very cheated when I don't get it.

Yes--he's beautiful there! Wish I had a large one of it.

From a business standpoint, why pour more money into something that didn't make money in the theaters? (I dearly love the movie, but I'm just saying as a business proposition, Paramount and/or Crowe got burned with this one. I haven't decided yet if the marketing was worse than it should've been, or the script/editing weren't as good as THEY could have been.)
araestel From: araestel Date: February 7th, 2006 10:16 pm (UTC) (Link)
I get the whole "saving money thing". But considering the cost to make a cd, adding a one page insert is *pennies*.

Personally, I think the reviewers hurt the movie's chances long before Joe-Public got a chance to see it. And these critics are from large cities with no idea that this movie is REAL. I live this movie every day. And for Cameron to hit it so perfectly--Personally, I think he's a freaking genius. But "big city reviewers" don't get rural. No concept. SO that's to their lack of insight--dead before take off. Everyone I've talked into seeing it here LOVES it. Even people who had no intention of seeing it. Why? Because it's real to us. So I guess we keep our little movie and our memories of it being made and just go on. I jsut think it, Orlando and Cameron got bad raps. ;)

I feel the same way. However I was more upset to find that this was not a Special Edition DVD like I thought was coming out today. No this was just a regular Widescreen DVD. So again I have to go out and Buy another copy when the Special Edition comes out. My DVD also came with an extra disc on the behind the scenes "Road to Elizabethtown" DVD.
araestel From: araestel Date: February 7th, 2006 10:20 pm (UTC) (Link)
Yes, I wanted those extra deleted scenes and extended edition too!!

I got the disc and will cap tomorrow. *hugs*
